MEET THE SHEEP
TOUR THE FARM
At Bauman’s Fiber Farm, our Valais Blacknose sheep are the heart and soul of our fiber story. With their iconic black faces and curly coats known as the "cutest sheep in the world", these charismatic animals graze on homegrown hay and live with care and freedom on our Ohio pastures. Their wool grows in long, lustrous locks—soft and remarkably sturdy—making it ideal for durable creations like rugs, wall hangings, and felted goods. The texture of each lock carries a rustic beauty, full of character and strength. While it’s not suited for garments worn close to the skin, it’s a favorite among fiber artists who appreciate its resilience and bold presence. Every fleece reflects ethical care, sustainable farming, and the joyful spirit of the sheep who grew it.

Valais Blacknose Sheep
Purebred Sheep imported by embryo to the United States from New Zealand.

Valais Blacknose Crossbreds
With continuing our breed up program, the quality of the wool is definitely improving. Along with a strong genetic base for more well adapted sheep in the US.

Wensleydale & Gotland Sheep
Check in every spring to see if we have purebreds. Both breeds make very nice crossbreds as well.

Katadins
Purebred Katahdin's available. The Ewes make surrogates for embryos. Rams and Ewes for sale. These are hair sheep, so no need to shear, they will shed their wool.
MEET THE YAKS
Sharing pasture with our sheep are the majestic yaks of Bauman’s Fiber Farm—gentle giants with thick coats and calm, watchful eyes. These hardy animals thrive in Ohio’s seasons, grazing peacefully on the same homegrown hay that nourishes the rest of our flock. Their fiber is a hidden treasure: soft, downy undercoats that rival cashmere in warmth and comfort. Ideal for garments worn close to the skin, yak fiber offers a luxurious contrast to the sturdy wool of our Valais Blacknose sheep. Each spring, we gently harvest their fiber, honoring their natural rhythms and ensuring comfort and care. Our yaks bring a quiet strength to the farm, and their fiber adds a touch of elegance to our offerings.

MEET THE ANGORA RABBITS
Tucked into cozy hutches and hopping through quiet corners of Bauman’s Fiber Farm are our angora rabbits—fluffy bundles of charm with coats as soft as clouds. These gentle creatures are lovingly groomed to collect their luxurious fiber, which is prized for its silky texture and delicate warmth. Ideal for blending into yarns or spinning on its own, angora adds a whisper-light softness to garments and accessories. Our rabbits are raised with care and calm, enjoying a peaceful life that reflects our commitment to ethical animal husbandry. Their fiber brings a touch of magic to our collection—perfect for those who seek comfort, beauty, and a little bit of whimsy.

MEET THE PIGS
Our pigs are raised with purpose, care, and plenty of room to roam. Whether destined for the show ring or the pasture, each piglet begins life in a nurturing environment where health, temperament, and quality are top priorities. We offer well-bred babies for 4-H and show families, selected for their strong genetics and gentle dispositions. For those seeking ethically raised pork, our pigs live outdoors with access to fresh air, sunshine, and homegrown grain—resulting in meat that’s flavorful, responsibly sourced, and rooted in respect. From playful piglets to pasture-raised pork, our pigs reflect the balance of tradition, sustainability, and stewardship that defines our farm. Raised with care from the show ring to the supper table.

Sows
We currently only house 2 sows so they have plenty of room and lots of TLC.

Show Ring
All of our piglets are great for all age showers in the show ring. Our 1st show was at 4yrs old. They have the kindest of personalities and easy to train.

All our little ones are built for the show ring, however some are kept back to also fill the freezer. Making some of the nicest cuts of pork.
MEET THE CHICKENS
From sunrise to sunset, the chickens roam freely across pastures, gardens, and barnyards—scratching, pecking, and chattering as they go. These lively hens are more than egg layers; they’re part of the rhythm and soul of the farm. Each morning, they greet the day with curiosity and energy, and each evening, they return to their coop for safety and rest. Their eggs are a rainbow of nature’s beauty—brown, white, blue, green, and even soft pink—each one a testament to the diversity and health of our flock. Raised with freedom, protected with care, and fed on homegrown grain and pasture forage, our chickens live the good life—and their eggs reflect it.
